Also known as Second Master, a widower and the second son of the Ma family. He is described as exceptionally handsome, tall (at least a head taller than Xie Xian'er), and highly sought-after as a marriage prospect. He holds a grudge against Xie Xian'er, reportedly because she previously tried to seduce the Fourth Master instead. He avoided consummating the marriage on their wedding night by going to the outer study to sober up. He is the son of Old Lord Ma.
