Ma Caiwei is the bride at the wedding featured in this chapter. She is the younger sister of Ma Kaiji and is marrying An Junmai. With both parents deceased, she has only her elder brother Ma Kaiji as family. She wanted a Chinese-style wedding with classical yet magnificently luxurious decorations. When she discovers that An Junmai loves her brother, she becomes enraged and slaps him multiple times, declaring that her brother is hers and he can only be with her.
