A young hunter in his twenties (eight years older than Han Xiuxiu) who lives alone halfway up the mountain. He is skilled at hunting and has a large black hunting dog named Black Panther. He rescued Han Xiuxiu from the river when she attempted suicide. He is described as having little experience speaking with young women and initially rejected Han Daliang's request for him to marry Xiuxiu, preferring his free life.
