Liu Qishuang's elderly grandfather who is currently ill with a bad cough, likely from a cold the previous year that was never fully cured. He used to sleep in the firewood room but was moved to a small room inside the pigsty and latrine by Liu Qishuang's father because his coughing disturbed their sleep. The room was formerly a cattle pen and is freezing in winter, stifling in summer, and reeks of foul odors.
