Liu Hongqi
Liu Hongqi is Liu Juan's father and a factory committee chairman at the shoe factory in the city. He is described as well-connected and presumably wealthy, which is why Liu Juan seeks him out upon her return. When Liu Juan arrives at his workplace and identifies herself, he reacts with visible rage, his face turning purple as he demands to know who allowed her to come back. His angry exclamation draws the attention of everyone in the office. Rather than showing any paternal warmth or concern, he rejects Liu Juan outright. This hostile reaction suggests a strained or broken relationship between father and daughter, possibly due to her time spent as an educated youth in the countryside or other family circumstances. Liu Juan had hoped to stand on moral high ground to reclaim what she believed belonged to her, but her father's reaction dashed those hopes.
