He is actually a ruthless manipulator who climbed to power by relying on women and committing multiple murders. He was engaged to Wang Xiuxiu but orchestrated the deaths of his mentor Wang Fuzi and fiancée via bandits hired by Li Huilan. He later married Li Huilan, had her and their daughter killed, and then married Cheng Qinqin. He also poisoned Master Li and took control of his wealth. He is described as worse than a beast for killing his own daughter.
