The male lead, also known as Prince Xiang. He is a royal prince who chose to spend his wedding night with the secondary consort Bai Chuchu rather than his legitimate wife Ruan Mianmian, as a political move to please the Emperor. However, after receiving a message and a jade ruyi from Ruan Mianmian's maid Fangcao, he changed his mind and went to the Princess Consort's quarters. He first met Ruan Mianmian at Kunning Palace where she appeared delicate and gentle.
