Also known as Old Man Lin, he is the patriarch of the Lin family and father of Lin Zhiyuan. He is the cousin of Xishan Village's head Lin Hailiang. He and his wife Madam Shen decided to sell their granddaughter Lin Jinchu to Old Master Xu for ten taels of silver due to the drought and financial hardship. He allowed the sale to proceed despite his grandson's pleas.
