A widower from a neighboring village who held a grudge against Mrs. Xia after his marriage proposal was refused. He pushed Xia Li into a river, believing that with her dead, Mrs. Xia would be forced to remarry him. He was later beaten half to death by Mrs. Xia's three brothers and forced to pay eight hundred copper coins for medical expenses.
