Li Shu's biological father, a clerk at the town relay station who handles correspondence registration. He is concerned with family reputation and initially wants Li Shu to die to settle the matter with the Qi family. He is easily manipulated by Li Shu and pays bribes to jailers to 'teach' her a lesson. He appears cultured and upright but is ultimately self-serving and fearful of public opinion.
