Jiang Lan
Jiang Huiwan's mother, who worked as a financial officer at the local textile factory. She harbored deep resentment toward her first husband who abandoned her and poured that hatred onto Jiang Huiwan through emotional coldness, strict demands, constant scolding, and neglect. She ordered her daughter sent to the countryside partly to escape the troublemaker Shen Sanqian and partly because Jiang Huiwan's face reminded her of the man she hated. She is described as an educated woman who never physically abused her daughter.
