Jiang A Yao's father, a cowardly man who sits smoking his long-stemmed pipe during family confrontations. He is unable to speak up against his wife Lin Qinghua and meekly returns to smoking when scolded. He shows brief surprise when Jiang A Yao says she will throw herself in the river but does not actively intervene.
