A Shinto deity associated with foxes, rice, and prosperity. The divine vessel prepared for Inari's descent was hijacked by Shichiya. Inari is usually depicted as female. The priest at the rural Inari shrine speaks of Inari-blessed harvests but notes no recorded manifestations at his shrine.
