Male, Shulan's husband, also referred to as General He and He Fengling in different parts of the text. He is a military general who accompanies Shulan to the Cao residence. He is protective of Shulan and takes her medical case when they go out. He sometimes feels gloomy when Shulan focuses on earning money.
