He is impulsive, short-tempered, and takes bold risks in supernatural cases. He has a rivalry with Shen Yan, partly due to his feelings for Sang Huaiyu. He is only respectful toward Mr. Sang (Sang Huaiyu). He once fought with captain Fu Nanyao on his first day at the association.
