Also called Uncle Hagrid, a robust and dark-skinned man married to Linda. He is a distant cousin of Victor (Lai Yi's nominal father) and provided considerable help for the Victor couple to settle in the village. He has three sons. He brought Dr. Black from town to treat Lai Yi. He is caring toward the brothers, bringing them stew and rye bread, and seemed teary-eyed when seeing Lai Yi after his long unconsciousness.
