The old county magistrate, also referred to as Gu Xianzun and County Magistrate Gu. He protects Lin Yue and Gu Jun after they are attacked, vowing to impeach Magistrate Wang. He writes a memorial to present evidence against Wang and sends it to the capital via courier, hoping Chancellor Meng will intervene. When Wang Xianling brings the advisor as a scapegoat, Gu Xianling orders severe interrogation, but the advisor dies suddenly in prison that night. Undeterred, he devises a new plan with his nephew (a young scholar) to still implicate Wang Gong, and sends another memorial via courier.
