Jiang Ci's husband, a military representative. He was reassigned to the border and later sent to work at a steel factory in the Third Front after being injured. He regularly sent his entire salary home and his in-laws sent supplies. His family includes a deputy director at a meat factory and a minister in the Light Industry Department living in Rongcheng. He was tricked by Jiang Ci's adoptive family who lied that she ran off with another man. He died in an accident on his way back in the original novel's plot.
