Also known as Old Master Ruan or Mr. Taoli, he is Liuzheng's father and the husband of the First Madam. He initially did not intend to imprison Liuzheng but was persuaded by Madam Song's nagging. He hoped Changzheng could take over Liuzheng's military merits. He is angry and regretful after discovering the Duke came in gratitude, not to cause trouble.
