Also referred to as Old Master Lan, he is Lan Xubai's grandfather. He is delighted to finally meet his granddaughter-in-law Lian Nanshu and playfully complains that Lan Xubai hid his wife for so long. He shows increasing fondness for Lian Nanshu at the dinner table, even making Lan Xubai switch seats so Lian Nanshu can sit closer to him.
