Xia Baozhu's grandmother, who raised her during the famine by giving up her own rations. She is manipulative and sweet-talking, having persuaded the original host to help her uncle's family after marriage. She is critical of her daughter-in-law Lin Chunlan and disapproves of Xia Chang'an.
