The grandmother of Gou Dan and Da Ya. She is emotional and eloquent when crying, using a plaintive, almost singing tone. She welcomes the children back but is conflicted because her son (Fifth Uncle) has split the family and refuses to share food with them. She has a newborn grandson whose bad luck she fears might be influenced by the returning children.
