Also known as Yunxu, a fellow scholar at the Imperial Academy and close friend of Shen Fu. He comes from a wealthy family despite appearing modest. He is being sent as an envoy to teach in Yanqi for three to five years. He secretly leaves silver for the Shen family in a basket of eggs and praises Mingtang's cooking enthusiastically.
