Giyu Tomioka is a Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps, known as the Water Pillar. In this chapter, he is injured during the mission against the Upper Moon demons. He is found half-conscious by Nanaya and Tengen, and is dragged to safety by Tengen. Later, he is tended to by Shinobu Kochō, who injects him with medicine to stabilize his breathing. The medicine is not a full cure but buys him time. Giyu is one of the few casualties from the mission, though his injuries are not fatal. He is male and serves as a supporting character in the story. His presence at the scene demonstrates the danger of the mission and the effectiveness of Nanaya and Tengen's teamwork.
