The headmaster of Qinghe Academy. He is described as corrupt, being sworn brothers with Magistrate Hu. He flatters and curries favor, and together they divert imperial funds meant for academies and village schools into Qinghe's coffers. He nearly coughed up blood when Headmaster Lin passed the juren exam.
