Fang Yu's father, a thin, sickly yet handsome middle-aged man. He is a former scholar who knows a few characters and is deeply devoted to his late wife. He is extremely emotional and cries frequently. He works as a copyist and later survives by foraging. He is eager to marry Fang Yu off to the He family to settle debts, but Fang Yu sees through the situation.
