The paralyzed mother of Chu Mochen and Chu Xiyao. She resides at Deyuan Courtyard where she is attended by servants. She was previously robbed by Chu Xiyao of her silver notes and jewelry. She laughed so hard she nearly spat out her medicine when she saw Chu Mochen's scratched face, feeling endlessly happy that someone was finally putting her unfilial son in his place. She suspected Lin Yanran was the one who scratched him, as in her eyes Lin Yanran was the only one who would dare lay hands on Chu Mochen's face. She is openly biased toward her second brother and younger daughter Chu Xiyao. She believes a woman without her maternal family's support never meets a good end.
