Ding Budong is a male character in his early thirties, tall and thin, with long hair and a beard covering half his face. He is Hu San's only closed-door apprentice and is considered by some to be as skilled as his master, with some claiming all of Hu San's real treasures were found by him. After offending Hu San, he was blacklisted and is now living as a beggar under a bridge in Yanzhen. He was hired by Yi An'an for a 20% cut of whatever he finds. He is ambitious and agreed to work with her, receiving 200 yuan as startup capital and a key to a shack in Yangjia Village. He expressed joy at no longer having to beg.
