He hunts pheasants and rabbits, sending the fattest ones to Wei Lan's brother as payment for medical treatment of his wife. He is knowledgeable about horses and helps Wei Lan select Dark Cloud at the market. He also tends a vegetable patch where he plants sweet potato seedlings. His expression is often sincere yet sorrowful.
