The emperor, a middle-aged man who wears a bright yellow dragon robe. He is described as a tyrant with an aura that rules over life and death. He is deeply infatuated with Lady Wen and becomes enraged when he believes his son Chu Shaoyao poisoned her. Despite Chu Shaoyao's pitiful appearance and plea of innocence, the emperor initially refuses to believe him, seeing it as an attempt to shame the royal family. He is easily manipulated by Lady Wen's tears and gentle words.
