Cheng Scholar is the father of He Family's Wife and a figure referenced in the story. The Old Master refers to him dismissively as that old dog and warns that he will come jumping out now that the He family has no one left. He is part of the Cheng family, which along with the Su family makes up more than half of Erlang Beach. His daughter married into the He family and became a widow who runs a successful business.
