Cheng Baozhu's mother, described as shrewd and extremely thrifty. She saved nearly 400 yuan over the years even after marrying off all three sons. On her deathbed, she divided household savings equally into four shares (Cheng Baozhu received 98 yuan) and begged the granduncle to watch over her youngest daughter. She insisted she was struck by the rock because she was shielding the cadre. She died before her daughter could arrive at the hospital. Her martyr's certificate was later processed.
