Fan Qi's nominal husband, a man in his fifties described as having devastating charm in his youth. He comes from a wealthy Shanghai capitalist family whose factories were nationalized after the liberation. As a two-year-old, he was entrusted to Granny Fan (the original Fan Qi's grandmother) during a turbulent era and lived with the Fan family for over a decade. He attended F University and was invited by a professor from the University of Hong Kong to pursue graduate studies. He is described in the novel Fan Qi read as a powerful figure who manipulates events from the shadows, known for ruthless strategies, decisive and fierce yet always within bounds, with a strong sense of justice. He and Fan Qi have an arranged marriage and live separately in the same bed, keeping a wide distance. He is currently reviewing documents and writing notes with a fountain pen.
