Also known as Educated Youth Chen or Brother Yichen, he is Yang Tao's fiancé. He is a university student from Beijing who comes from a military family — his parents and older brother are all in the military. He has a grandfather and younger sister living in Beijing, and he grew up with them. He volunteered to be sent down to the countryside instead of his younger sister, who had just graduated from high school. He is described as handsome, intelligent, and caring.
