The Village Party Secretary of Qiaoguan Village, described as lean, dark, and capable. He has a loudspeaker hanging from his waist which he uses to shout instructions during harvest. He is a widower who has lived alone for many years, and his children are not by his side. He played a crucial role in Gu Mingyan's life: when Gu Mingyan was five or six and fell seriously ill, Chen Erye refused to give up on him, took him to the city hospital, and got him treated. He was instrumental in securing Gu Mingyan's qualification to enlist and raised him somewhat as a half-son. Gu Mingyan treats him as a second father and sends him letters.
