Xu Jinfeng's biological mother. She was an orphan in a relief institute until age six, later adopted by an elderly couple. She studied chemical engineering at university and worked in Shanghai. She is now critically ill in a cowshed, emaciated and suffering from infection and fever, with a half-shaven head.
