The antagonist, an acting master (county magistrate) in Ping'an County. He is described as extremely fat with cross-eyes and an arrogant, greedy personality. He looks down on women and initially allowed Zhuang Jin into the city out of fear of her wolves. He becomes obsessed with capturing Zhuang Jin after learning she may be connected to Leopard Ridge and the disappearance of one hundred thousand taels of official silver. He is easily frightened when the wolves reveal their true nature.
