Chunhua's mother, a villager who works in the fields. She returned from the fields with a hoe and became furious upon smelling the fragrant rice. She whipped her daughter for bringing Shen Qingran into the house and accused her of following Shen Qingran's bad example. She snatched the bowl of rice from Shen Qingran and threw him out, refusing to share the rice with him.
