Also known as Uncle Cai, a descendant of medicine merchants whose ancestors donated their family business after the founding of the country. He lives in a courtyard with six or seven family members and works at the state-run herbal medicine company, managing herb procurement in the area. He had known Guan Yue and Teacher Xu Hua'an for decades through their herb dealings. He was attacked by thugs at his home and suffered from violent coughing fits. Guan Yue treated him with massage therapy.
