The protagonist, a woman reborn to March 8, 1954, at age twenty-five. In her previous life, she married Jiang Jingming after he was forced to consummate their engagement, bore a son who later died by suicide, and lost her wealth, dignity, and life to the manipulative Jiang family. Now reborn, she is determined to avoid past mistakes, reject the marriage, and protect her property. She is calm, resolute, and willing to use force to defend herself, as shown when she slaps Jiang Jingming and later fights Jiang Jingchen with a broom.
