A boy of about ten years old at the start of the story, nearly skeletal and covered in wounds from abuse by Wang Mazi. His true father is a noble who holds a high position in the capital, and his mother was poisoned. Yun Shang gives him the name Ah Du, hoping he can survive his suffering. He is sharp-minded despite his young age, trusts Yun Shang completely, and gradually grows stronger under her care. Over two years, he becomes a tall, strong adolescent. He learns calligraphy from Yun Shang and shows protective instincts toward her. He feels deep unease around the old man in black, sensing danger instinctively.
