GODOFEND
Intriguing! Update more please
Really enjoying this book. Might be my new favorite from the books you have written.
Na, it's ongoing.....
Best book I've read on this App.
I got hooked on the first chapter, it's amazing!
So I see people have been asking for updates for a least 2 years and this book says ongoing. Author are you gonna finish this book? I also feel like they should not advertise it if you aren’t because it isn’t fair to the readers
This chapter is a masterclass in building stakes, and I need to unpack why. On the surface, the conflict is simple: a group of young city people arriving in a brutal countryside environment. But the author layers so many conflicts on top of each other that by the end, I am completely invested. First, there is the man-versus-nature conflict. The cold. The wind. The hunger. The fourteen-hour journey on a tractor with no roof. Every character is physically suffering, and the author makes us feel it. But here is the thing — Cheng Ning is prepared. She brought the heavy coat, the snow hat, the boots. She is not suffering in the same way. This creates an immediate power imbalance. She has something the others do not: experience. Survival skills. And this sets up the central conflict of her position in this world. Then there is the interpersonal conflict with Zhao Zhi and Gu Jingwen. This is subtle but intense. Zhao Zhi is jealous — of Cheng Ning's beauty, her preparedness, her independence. Gu Jingwen is protective but also suspicious. He warns Zhao Zhi that Cheng Ning "doesn't mean you well." But Cheng Ning sees through them. She knows about their relationship, their private gestures, their scheme. And she is not afraid to call them out. The stakes here are social survival — in a place where everyone is vulnerable, having enemies is dangerous. But the deepest conflict is internal, and it is about Cheng Ning's past. The author reveals through her thoughts that she spent decades in darkness — prison, suffering, watching the Han family change. She has learned to be quiet, to listen, to survive. And now she is back in a world where Han Dongyuan is a powerful figure. The stakes are existential: she is surrounded by the people who destroyed her life, and she has to navigate this new reality without revealing who she really is. The revelation about Han Qishan's connection adds another layer. Cheng Ning has a safety net, but it is a fragile one. Han Youfu knows her connection, but he treats her no differently. This means she cannot rely on her family name — she has to survive on her own terms. The tension between her hidden advantage and her outward vulnerability is what makes this chapter so compelling. Every interaction feels charged because we know there are secrets beneath the surface. And I am desperate to find out what happens next.
Looking forward to your next one. I do love reading this Author's books! Thanks for keeping us entertained Emma!
