The protagonist starts as a boy with dual souls, one Japanese and the other from his own time. Tragically, he's left alone after his father vanishes and mother is killed.
He encounters nobles searching for a princess, saves her, but instead of gratitude, he faces brutal violence. Astonishingly, the king merely demotes the attacker. The MC simply seeks admission to an academy – a reasonable request. It's commendable for him to help, but given his recent near-death experience, one would expect more from the king. Instead of expressing gratitude or justice, the king remains indifferent and inquires about the MC's wish.
The main issue lies with the MC's lack of assertiveness. He appears passive and submissive, enduring beatings without retaliation. This lack of a strong personality or a desire to hold wrongdoers accountable makes the story stagnant. While there are a few characters who trust him, the narrative needs a darker edge for progression. If the MC were to develop a more sinister attitude towards those who harm him or his loved ones, the story might find its direction.
