I need to talk about the sleeping arrangement scene because it is THE scene of these chapters. Zhao Yan, a man who could probably bench press a zombie, just... spreads his bedding on the floor and refuses to leave. Le Huan kicks him out, he stays. She threatens his snoring (which 66 immediately calls out as a lie because she herself sleeps through thunder), and he just... endures it. This man is physically capable of so much but chooses to be emotionally persistent instead. That's character depth right there. And Le Huan? She's being difficult on purpose but the fact that she eventually compromises shows she's not actually trying to push him away—she's testing whether he'll stay. Classic move. The power dynamic between them is fascinating because on paper she's the monster and he's the human, but emotionally he's the one who's more vulnerable, more eager to please, more willing to be embarrassed. He gets red-faced talking about sleeping together. She's the one calling him out on chauvinism. The Wu siblings add a great outside perspective. Wu You literally thinks about how Zhao Yan used to be cold and empty and now his house has "many small items used by girls" and he's feeding a cat mush. That's not just observation—that's proof of transformation. And Wu Lü's reaction to Le Huan's figure? Hilarious and humanizing. She's not jealous, she's just... overwhelmed by how stunning Le Huan is. The cat, Zhao Xiaoqiang, is basically a relationship thermometer. "It was said that when people were loved, they grew flesh and warmth. The same was true for cats." This line made me actually smile out loud. The author is saying love changes everything—even the stray cat they picked up is thriving because it's in a home now.
