Drawing a deep breath, she took control of her fear .She was a commander's child .Her father had been born in poverty and had climbed by his wits and skills through the ranks of the military to end up being president of of their planet. He was fearless and he had passed that courage to his only child. She was going to meet death calmly, with dignity.

"Of course you have me, and you always will," she whispered softly into his chest, her blush growing deeper as she said the words. With a smile, Cliff snuggled closer to her.
