I need to talk about this scene because it wrecked me in the best way. The moment Ji Nanxi serves Lu Zhiyan that soup, her almond-shaped eyes full of nervousness and anticipation—that's the kind of detail that makes you melt. She's clearly not a professional cook, but she's trying so hard, and she's pouring everything she has into making him feel cared for. And Lu Zhiyan? The man who can barely say more than two words at a time, who has this stern, heavy mood weighing him down from the mission ahead—he drinks every last drop. No complaints. Just quiet gratitude. The line that got me was when it says his nerves, perpetually tense from years of vigilance, felt a rare moment of relaxation. That's not just physical relief, that's emotional. This man hasn't felt safe in a long time, and somehow his wife's terrible-but-lovingly-made soup made him feel it. And then the ending—"I have a mission tonight, and the return date is uncertain." The contrast between that warmth and that line is brutal. I literally had to put the book down for a second. These two are so good together. She gives him warmth, he gives her... I don't know yet, but it's something real.

Well, I don’t know if I like Mitch anymore. He plans on rejecting Cassie and go against his wolf’s feelings. Plus he slept with her knowing he had this in mind. Cassie deserves better. Justice for Cassie.
