Ok before i read this just wanna ask if story has strong female lead or like cinderella type that always need saving, naive or boderline stupid type of character( coz those things i hate to read)if then just tell me,, thank you
love this book however I did find the ending rushed.
'Sister-in-law, you have too much time. Your life must be so unsatisfying that you have to pick on others for amusement.' I literally screamed when I read this. The way Yao Qingqing handles that woman on the cart who keeps throwing shade about her pregnancy—she doesn't get flustered, she doesn't apologize, she just dismantles the woman's entire existence with one sentence. And the best part is how natural the dialogue feels. Everyone has a distinct voice. Grandma Yao speaks with this sharp, no-nonsense authority. Tian Huaihua sounds genuinely frightened and vulnerable. The Shen family sounds entitled and cruel. Even the deputy team leader has this bureaucratic hesitation that's so realistic. And Yao Qingqing's internal monologue—'Actually kneeling was out of the question. She was a woman, but her knees were not worthless'—this is the kind of dark humor that makes the narrative voice so distinctive. The author clearly has a sense of irony and isn't afraid to let characters be petty, cruel, or brilliantly savage.
