So far I really like it. Honestly I wish I could just read it all in a day and be done so I can read another.
The pacing in these chapters is absolutely ruthless and I love it. You start with Ning Yuchan lying awake at night, lost in thought about Huo Jingye — super quiet, almost meditative. Then Mother Huo wakes up screaming like a banshee and the whole thing spirals into chaos within minutes. One moment you're in a tender domestic scene, the next you're watching a daughter-in-law wrestle a plucked rooster in the courtyard while three relatives shout at each other. The author doesn't give you any breathing room and honestly that's what makes it so gripping. There's also this really clever structural choice where the family backstory about the Huo family's decline gets woven into the confrontation scene rather than dropped in as a separate exposition dump. You learn about the dog-skin plaster business, the war, the land disputes, the family split — all while people are yelling at each other. It keeps the momentum going. The only slight drag is the extended backstory about Grandmother Huo and the property division, but even that serves the conflict by explaining WHY the eldest branch feels entitled to bully the second branch. Everything ties together. Ends on a perfect cliffhanger though — Huo Changfu raising his hand to hit Taohua, and Ning Yuchan pulling her behind her. My heart actually skipped.
this fiction is just a masterpiece. I love it

This book is awesome. I am hooked. I can’t wait to turn the next page to see what’s next. I hope Shane gets what he deserves.
I can’t wait for more chapters to this book. It’s really getting good. I hope it’s updated really soon.
Cool story author! You did a good job this! Way to go!
