It started well but as it gets longer, the story line is very confusing. I kinda get stress reading it. Had to abandon the story half way.
I need to talk about Jiang Huai because honestly? He's the kind of character who sneaks up on you. At first he's just the cool rich brother type—gives Guan Xuxu 100,000 yuan without blinking, makes phone calls to investigate people, totally unfazed by her mystical nonsense. But there's something genuinely sweet about how he watches her work. The moment that got me was when he 'was pleased that, in such a short time, Xuxu had adapted to her role as his sister and knew to ask her brother for help.' That's not just tolerance—that's actual fondness. He's not forcing himself to believe her; he's genuinely curious and willing to verify. When he sees the bank records and his expression turns 'unusually subtle,' you can tell he's processing this new reality. Compare him to Jiang Su, who spends the entire scene sneering 'Tch! Still putting on this mystical act' and making sarcastic comments about 'finger-waving.' Jiang Su is the foil here—he represents the skeptical audience, and his mockery makes Jiang Huai's quiet acceptance feel even more meaningful. And then there's Guan Xuxu herself. The way she immediately transfers half of Jiang Huai's money to another account without asking—that's such a specific character detail. She's not some grateful orphan; she's calculating, independent, and clearly has her own agenda. She even internally吐槽 the Jiang family: 'Tsk, the wicked rich. Even though she was now part of the Jiang family, she couldn't help feeling a twinge of envy.' She's simultaneously joining their world AND judging it. That's a complicated relationship with her new family that I'm here for. The dynamic between all three—Jiang Huai's quiet support, Guan Xuxu's sharp independence, Jiang Su's loud dismissal—creates this really interesting triangle.
The book so good so far. Sad but love it
literally been checking Daily for book 7. since the day the last book was completed. It's one of the best series I have read ( twice over lol ) . I hope these get picked up for movies. highly recommended
111 chapters 4-11-23 has to be finished before I will try and read it!
