In all my years of reading, I've never experienced the sensation of nausea triggered by a book until this abysmal novel nearly did it. To be honest, it actually induced vomiting. The most infuriating aspect of this story is the protagonist, who, after being betrayed, tormented, and nearly killed, resolves to embrace ruthlessness and become a remorseless killer.
Constantly posturing as tough and callous, he utters lines like, "I don't give a damn about this world or its inhabitants," and "I couldn't care less about my peers." Yet, predictably, he transforms into a self-righteous, hypocritical tsundere, putting himself in danger to save others and uphold justice. He employs non-lethal force, even when facing threats, insisting, "It doesn't matter if you live or die," while risking his life in a Superman-like manner. The name "Hajime" alone irks me for some inexplicable reason.
This character belongs to that irritating archetype – pretending to be cruel and brooding, only to reveal a heroic side and save the day. The author's attempt at humor falls flat, making the narrative even more unbearable. It baffles me how this book garners a rating above four.
The story is captivating with its main character (MC), fellow characters (FMC and support characters), and their evolving dynamics. After 200 chapters, the intense connection between them has indeed grown, making for an engaging read. The MC, while not a traditional villain, operates from a grey area, with his actions often driven by self-defense against enemies and the pursuit of a noble goal. He eliminates threats preemptively to protect his FMC, which forms his primary motivation.
His secondary objective revolves around averting an impending catastrophe in their new world, which he believes can be achieved through his primary and third goals. The third goal, as he claims, is to create an anti-hero organization, recruiting individuals with shared grievances against oppressive forces, rather than purely seeking power or chaos.
The supporting cast adds depth and charm, with characters like the hacker, shaman, healer girls, and the healer's brother embodying familial bonds. There's a subtle level of romantic tension within the group, hinting at a harem-like setup, but the MC remains focused on his FMC as his main love interest.
Overall, the story is exceptional, showcasing elements commonly found in similar narratives. However, the reader expresses a desire for even more unique and diverse content.
This is my first-time writing a review, and I'm quite surprised by the low ratings for this book. I wholeheartedly adore it and would highly recommend it. The female lead (FL) feels very real and relatable to me. The male lead (ML) is genuinely exceptional - he's considerate, always asking for consent, and they both acknowledge their feelings quickly, without typical excuses.
This novel perfectly captures the essence of a relationship built on mutual consent and love. The intimate scenes are steamy and consensual, ensuring the characters' well-being is never compromised.
The FL's backstory is powerful - growing up in an abusive household as the black sheep due to gender discrimination. It adds depth to her character, and though she faces challenges, she displays resilience and evolves into a strong, relatable lead. As the story progresses, she gains confidence as the crown princess.
As for the male lead, at first, his playful nature might seem annoying, but he truly shines as the sweetest ML I've come across. His actions are always respectful, and he openly expresses his love for the FL, setting him apart from other MLs I've encountered.
The FL's family dynamics are complex. Her father and eldest brother receive mixed feelings from me. Her father's behavior is despicable, while her brother, Louis, starts off as an enigma but eventually learns to empathize. Theo's character is a bit ambiguous, redeeming himself later in the story.
In summary, despite the flaws in the FL's family, the book is a delightful read. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a beautiful, consent-driven romance. The characters are endearing, and the story is worth every page.
there are always adventures out there to get. There's like an infinite num of stories and you can only read so much. yes this series is great but you should try another one! Just my .02
